On 1 March, tire manufacturer Mitas appointed Jean-Paul Spijker market director for the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Operating out of Uden, Spijker has the responsibility of increasing Mitas’ market share and improving customer service in the region.
“I can open a lot of doors,” says Spijker, who has an extensive sales background from Toyo Tyres, Van den Ban Autobanden, Solideal and Alliance Tire Europe. Spijker is a Kiwanis associate and is fluent in Dutch, English and German.
“Mitas is moving closer to Benelux customers,” says Andrew Mabin, vice chairman of Mitas’ board. “Mitas is increasing tire availability and shortening delivery times for tire deliveries since the Uden office operates its own warehouse, which will now store the full range of Mitas and Continental-branded tires.”
In an effort to expand its sales network, Mitas acquired Tribatyre in Uden and established a sales office there in January. Tribatyre and Mitas have been cooperating since 2002. “It is the farmers, construction industry and original equipment manufacturers who benefit when Mitas establishes a local presence,” Mabin adds. One in four new tractors and harvesters in Europe is fitted with tires made by Mitas. Mitas also makes industrial and motorcycle tires.
