At Bauma China 2012, Dana Holding Corporation unveiled a comprehensive lineup of drivetrain solutions that reflects a growing commitment to the Chinese construction and off-highway industries.

Located in stand N2.106 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, Dana debuted Spicer Rui Ma, a new class of axles, transmissions, and driveshafts, and presented a wide range of Spicer mining axles and TZL series powershift transmissions – all of which are manufactured in Wuxi, Jiangsu Provence, China.

"As the Chinese domestic market becomes increasingly diverse and sophisticated, Tier 1 suppliers must evolve with a deeper range of available technologies, engineering capabilities, complete systems and responsive service offerings," says Aziz Aghili, president of Dana Off-Highway Driveline Technologies. "With 20 years of service to the Chinese market, a new aftermarket distribution center, and expanded technical capabilities coming online early next year, Dana is ideally positioned to serve China, a region that will continue to dominate the attention of the global construction OEMs."

Technology for China – Made in China

At Bauma China, Dana will debut the initial Spicer Rui Ma product solutions offered to Chinese OEMs, including the Spicer TZL16 RM powershift transmission, the T08 RM transmission, and the T39 RM tridem axle.

Marketed in China as "Spicer??," the Spicer Rui Ma line provides an optimized blend of features, performance, dependability, and cost demanded by purchasers of the majority of construction and other off-highway vehicles sold in China today.

Spicer Rui Ma products are engineered to perform effectively throughout the entire life of the vehicle, reflecting Dana's considerable ongoing investment in research and development; comprehensive simulation, bench, and field testing; and exacting requirements for suppliers.

Comprehensive Mining Support

The Spicer Model 53R planetary axle and Model 16D axle shown in the Dana stand represent the company's added manufacturing capacity for mining and construction applications in China.

This summer, Dana began producing five models of medium- and large-sized Spicer mining axles in Wuxi. Designed with dynamic load capacities ranging from 20 to 60 tons (18 to 54 tonnes), these axles are used for a variety of mining vehicles, including load haul dumpers (LHDs), mining trucks and scoops.

Proven Performance and Results

Three Spicer TZL Series powershift transmissions – the TZL18, TZL16, and TMG14 – are also being exhibited at the show.

This new line of transmissions currently available for front-end loaders and motor graders utilizes a four-speed platform with proven internal components from the extensive line of Spicer powershift transmissions already available for the off-highway market worldwide. The Spicer TZL Series is specially designed to supply heavy-duty vehicles with higher horsepower capability, reduced maintenance, and smoother, quieter operation.

Production of Spicer TZL Series transmissions began at Dana's manufacturing facility in Wuxi earlier this year.
