Oerlikon Drive Systems Suzhou received TPG accreditation for demonstrating its ongoing commitment to quality by satisfying customer
requirements and industry specifications. This is a great achievement for the Suzhou factory that has comprehensive gear manufacturing and assembly facilities and its own dedicated heat treatment area.

Oerlikon Segment Drive Systems is a leading global provider of drive solutions used in a wide range of applications to operate machinery and equipment for agriculture, construction, energy, mining and transportation with its two brands Oerlikon Graziano and Oerlikon Fairfield. Thanks to a worldwide expansion, it is considered a “Global Drive Systems Provider” and chosen by customers as a preferred partner for co-design, testing and manufacturing of drive solutions.

The company first established a manufacturing presence in China in 2005, in order to be closer to its customers in this key market. The latest expansion reflects the growing importance in China of the two brands and follows the opening of a 22,000 m2 manufacturing facility in 2012 and a growth of the Shanghai office, which is home to its application engineering, customer service and global sourcing in addition to sales.

The Suzhou factory has comprehensive gear manufacturing and assembly facilities. Throughout 2013 additional technical capabilities were installed to produce internal ring gears and complex machined components for drive assemblies. The latest expansion is a strategic investment to allow further growth in the region by providing complete drive solutions with full local support.

“This recognition is a further step towards process excellence,” says Patrick Tissier, Head of Oerlikon Drive Systems Business Unit China. “Together with the improvement of productivity and efficiency, it will help us on achieving our goal of becoming the Chinese market leader for drive solutions in the future.”

“Achieving TPG accreditation is not easy: it is one of the ways in which the transportation and power generation industry identifies those who excel at manufacturing quality product through superior special processes. Companies such as Oerlikon Drive Systems work hard to obtain this status and they should be justifiably proud of it,” says Joe Pinto, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Performance Review Institute. “PRI is proud to support continual improvement in the transportation and power generation industry by helping companies to be successful and we look forward to continuing to assist the industry moving forward.”
