SAF-Holland's NEWAY LSZ steerable lift axle available with Bendix air disc brakes

SAF-Holland chose the Bendix ADB22X Air Disc Brakes as an available option on its NEWAY LSZ steerable lift axle due the brake's two-pin floating caliper design resulting in fewer components and less maintenance.

SAF-Holland, a leading global manufacturer of trailer and truck suspension, fifth wheel, landing gear and coupling products, announces that the Bendix ADB22X Air Disc Brake is now available as an option on the NEWAY LSZ Steerable Lift Axle Suspension System.

The ADB22X disc brake was selected as an option on the NEWAY LSZ because its unique two-pin floating caliper design results in fewer components, requiring less maintenance. With an optimized friction and rotor pairing that enables longer service life for both components, the Bendix ADB22X brake minimizes the number of required maintenance inspections. In addition, changing the air disc brake pads on the ADB22X model takes less than half the time it typically takes to change drum linings, which reduces downtime and labor costs.

“We are pleased to have Bendix as a supplier,” says Ron Froese, Director of Sales and Marketing, Powered Vehicle Systems, SAF-HOLLAND, Inc. “Their broadly accepted, advanced truck brake technology improves braking performance, requires less maintenance, and allows fleets to match all axles with the same brakes.”

The addition of the Bendix disc brake further enhances the benefits of the 13.5 k capacity Neway LSZ for a variety of applications. The LSZ uses only 17.39 in. of frame rail space ahead of the center of the tire which provides extra room for bigger fuel tanks, mounting batteries on the rails and other components required to comply with regulations/bridge laws and a short wheelbase. The unique SuperChambers lift the axle in less than four seconds, hold the axle up with more than 12,000 lbs. of force preventing “axle bounce” and are puncture resistant. The rugged SuperChambers and the kingpin assembly’s spherical bearing design significantly reduce maintenance costs. Overall, the LSZ’s compact size combined with superior ride quality, low maintenance deliver improved operating efficiency and lower net operating costs.
