With the new VarioGrip Pro tire pressure regulation system, AGCO/Fendt now offers unique benefits in productivity. The new system allows the tire pressure to be increased by 1 bar within only 30 seconds, when switching between field work and on-road driving. With this new system, AGCO/Fendt responds to customer requests for faster filling times. Customers not only save time, but also money. The new system is available as an option for the Fendt 900 Vario and a tire size of 710/75R42, and is therefore ideal for all contracting businesses and large agricultural enterprises. The agricultural equipment manufacturer presented its new VarioGrip Pro tire pressure regulation system to the public for the first time at the Agritechnica 2015.

VarioGrip Pro is the further development of the VarioGrip tire pressure regulation system from AGCO/Fendt. With the new design concept, developed in collaboration with Mitas, the agricultural equipment manufacturer provides the option of integrating an additional inner tire to reduce filling time significantly. That is especially important for work like applying slurry or transporting maize from the field, when the tractor must switch quickly between field work and on-road driving.

Inner tire as pressure reservoir

A well-adjusted tire pressure effectively reduces slip and rolling resistance when working in the field. That has a positive effect on area coverage and saves fuel. Furthermore, a low tire pressure promotes soil fertility. For safe, efficient driving at transport speeds on the road, the tire pressure must be increased again. The new VarioGrip Pro system boasts a filling time of only 30 seconds. A new design concept was developed, where an inner tire is integrated in the outer tire of the rear wheel. On the one hand, this design reduces the net volume of the outer tire, which needs to be filled, by about 30%. On the other, the inner tire also serves as a pressure reservoir and fills the outer tire.

The intelligent wheel

AGCO/Fendt places great value on precision, user-friendliness and cost savings. The optimal tire pressure can be set easily and conveniently using the Varioterminal which noticeably reduces operator stress. The sensor system and valve assembly of the VarioGrip Pro tire pressure regulation system are attached directly to the wheel. Control commands, sensor data and electric energy are transferred between the wheel and tractor body without contact, and therefore without wear. The pressure supply has been improved through the further development of the pneumatic rotary union. Pressure regulation takes place without delay and is highly precise. Furthermore, the air pressure can be adjusted for each individual wheel.

Higher working safety through pressure control

The engine speed does not need to be increased to achieve shorter filling times for the tire. That saves fuel and reduces noise emissions. Additional safety is provided through continuous monitoring of the tire pressure. For example, damage to the tire can be quickly detected through a drop in air pressure.

VarioGrip Pro is available as an option for the Fendt 900 Vario with a tire size of 710/75R42 starting November 2016.
