JOST Intl. Celebrates 500,000th Domestically Produced Fifth Wheel

JOST Intl. recently celebrated the production of its 500,000th fifth wheel during a reception at the Technology and Maintenance Council's Annual Meeting and Exhibition.

During a customer appreciation reception held in conjunction with the Technology and Maintenance Council’s 2016 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, JOST International celebrated the January manufacture and shipment of its 500,000th fifth wheel. The fifth wheel was produced at the company’s Greeneville, TN, facility.

Many of JOST North American customers attending the event, both equipment manufacturers and fleets, were recognized for their contribution to the success of the company’s fifth wheel product line. Rich Carroll, Vice President Sales & Marketing, remarked, “This reception provided us with an opportunity to thank our loyal customers and the large turnout was both appreciated and humbling to us.”

JOST has been manufacturing fifth wheel coupling devices globally since 1956 and began manufacturing for the North America market at its Greeneville, TN, facility in 1999, adding a 12,000 sq. ft. expansion in 2015. Lee Brace, President of JOST International comments, “In late 2014, as we were producing our 400,000th fifth wheel and planning our expansion, we had aggressive plans to grow our market share even more in North America. As a result of increasing fleet preference and expanded OEM positions we have quickly met the 500,000th milestone.”

JOST fifth wheels feature safe and simple locking mechanisms with only four moving parts. Additional safety features include high coupling lugs decreasing the potential for improper coupling and an easy pull handle to benefit drivers. They are infinitely adjustable with a design that reduces vehicle downtime and maintenance costs, resulting in the lowest total cost of ownership in the fifth wheel segment. JOST International fifth wheels are now available for specification at all major OEMs.
