Comer Industries will be exhibiting at the Paris International Agri Business Show SIMA 2017 through its French branch, Comer Industries Sarl in Serris, Paris (Hall 4, Booth J 052).
Comer Industries’ products on display at SIMA will focus on specific solutions for feed mixers. In the forage harvesting and distributing machinery sector, the company is a worldwide leader in producing transmission systems for feed mixers with vertical or horizontal augers, whether stationary for feeding and biogas purposes, self-propelled or truck-mounted.
Comer Industries will be showing its 3-speed Powershift transmission A-614 for high capacity feed mixers: this is a mechatronic system that integrates the mechanical transmission, the hydraulic package to pilot the clutches and the electronic control unit (ECU), the brain of the product, which manages the changes of speed without torque interruption and without tractor PTO stopping.
The Powershift, combined with Comer Industries’ VP professional driveshafts and high range torque planetary drives for final augers, also on show, represents the complete package for high capacity feed mixers. For trailed vertical mixers, the PGA-2500 planetary drive series will also be on show, featuring a new output design, which allows a reduction in the overall weight and a minor amount of lubricant.
VP professional driveshafts exhibited include series VP 6, VP8, VP9 and CVJ-VP7 with constant velocity joint.
Comer Industries will also present its system for self-propelled feed mixers, including category 3 S-328 axle, with outstanding load and torque capacity (12 tons dynamic load and 58,000 Nm peak torque) and PGA-2103 VM high power planetary drive for transmitting the vertical drive to the auger. The PGA -2103 VM (21,000 Nm nominal transmissible torque and 48,000 Nm peak torque) is featuring a patent pending system able to support higher thermic power for heavy-duty applications.
The PGR-1702 W wheel drive will be on show, ideal for sprayer machines, thanks to the main tapered roller bearings high load capacity and to the optional wet disk dynamic brake, which can operate either as parking and emergency brake.
The design and reliability of these solutions are supported by Comer Industries’ state-of-the art Mechatronics Research Center, located in Reggiolo, Italy, for product testing and validation. In 2016, the company further invested in R&D through a recent enlargement of this facility. The center now extends over 2,100 m2 including one climate chamber and 16 soundproofed test rooms; it is equipped with cutting-edge devices and simulators to reproduce machine operating environment, thus optimizing product performances and reducing customer time to market of the new machines.

System integration for high capacity feed mixers
The Powershift A-614 transmission allows gears to shift while the machine is running without interruption of working operation: the end user can change the final speed of augers without stopping the tractor’s PTO, thus avoiding any waste of time and also obtaining significant fuel savings.
The A-614 model is a complete mechatronic package, available in 2- or 3-speed versions, integrated with a hydraulic system to manage clutches and an electronic control unit (ECU) as well.
The ECU is the brain of the product, able to control the shift gear to allow continuous operation.
The Powershift gearbox works in combination with the electronic control that manages multiple components and functions of the machine. Sensors are installed in the gearbox to monitor temperature, input and output speed and pressure.
The ECU also protects the unit from improper shifting. Additionally, the ECU provides simple analogic signals and, thanks to the CAN bus interface, it submits sophisticated feedback to the main feed mixer control unit.
Advantages include:
- Shift underload system
- 30% fuel saving and reduction in mixing time through piloting gearshift from final machine’s panel and using always best gear
- Reduced size of the tractor thanks to high reduction ratio
- Low noise transmission thanks to helical gear design
- Designed for 10,000 hours life
- Monitoring of input/output speed, pressure and temperature (sensors) to protect unit from wrong utilization of shift gear system.

A proven 25 year- track record in the design and manufacturing of power transmissions for feed mixers.
Strong engineering competences and continuing input towards excellence from R&D. Long-time experience in field testing, powering duty cycle machinery and solving customer’ expectations.
Comer Industries will be exhibiting the professional range of VP Series driveshafts, which features new EC type-approved accident prevention protection, high performances and easy maintenance.
This professional product line is versatile and available in many advanced solutions: transmissions are characterized by boosted efficiency and attention to the environment, thanks to reduced maintenance and less use of lubricants.
The VP range was created to meet the demands of high-performance, intensive use, typical of the contractor sector. To cover all needs of heavy duty users, five product sizes in the standard version and two sizes in the constant velocity version are available.
Maintenance is facilitated, thanks to the alignment of the access holes to the greasing points: lubrication can be performed without disassembling the driveshaft from the PTO. Maintenance intervals have been extended and, depending on the use conditions, can reach up to 250 hours.
New guard locking system with single chain guarantees quick and safety and offers the possibility of moving the bellows backwards, thus facilitating the assembly on the PTO of the tractor.
The version with constant velocity joint VP7 CVJ has a new guard that allows the PTO to operate as far as 80 degree working angles, without interfering with the tractor’ master shield. The new CVJ system, thanks to the floating plates, provides excellent sealing of the lubricating grease, thereby reducing maintenance intervals.
Driveshaft safety devices, such as limiters and easy connection devices, are also available. They are designed and manufactured according to quality procedures in compliance with international standards. All Comer Industries’ driveshafts protect the operator from any hazards associated with agricultural machine applications and provide complete protection thanks to counter-cones and to extended guards.
