The Auxiliary Battery Booster (ABB) from C.E. Niehoff & Co. protects the charge integrity of the vehicle main batteries while permitting auxiliary batteries to be properly charged.
- Increases alternator output voltage enough to compensate for line resistance in the long power leads between the alternator and the auxiliary batteries
- Monitors charge voltage and current to both the main and auxiliary battery sets and commands the voltage regulator setting
- Checks if auxiliary batteries are fully charged
- Keeps connection between main and auxiliary battery set in parallel
- Enables second charge current path to the auxiliary battery
- Current sensor continuously monitors auxiliary battery charging
- Charge current path to auxiliary battery is charged at a higher alternator output voltage as commanded by control link
