Walbro Sells Flow Control Business Unit

Walbro has agreed to sign its Flow Control business unit to Keihin Hi-Flow Sales in an effort to better focus its efforts on its engine management and fuel systems solutions.

Walbro Co. Ltd., the world’s largest carburetor manufacturer and a leading supplier of fuel injection, ignition and fuel systems components, has announced a definitive agreement to sell its Flow Control business unit. Keihin Hi-Flow Sales Co. Ltd. (KHF), a Japanese distributor of medical and industrial valves, will acquire the flow control business including technology assets and employees. The divestiture is consistent with Walbro’s strategy to focus the organization on engine management and fuel system solutions.

KHF has been working together with Walbro for over 25 years to develop Flow Control products for medical and industrial applications. The acquisition will allow KHF the flexibility to expand their product offering within the medical industry.

Subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, Walbro expects the transaction to close by March 24, 2016. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
