DEUTZ to Participate in Nationwide Girls' Day Initiative

As part of the nationwide Girls’ Day initiative on April 27, 2017, DEUTZ AG is once again inviting young female academics to its training center to spark their interest in engineering careers. The girls, accompanied by trainers and trainees, will gain an insight into the world of technical vocations available at DEUTZ.

DEUTZ has been a keen participant in Girls’ Day for many years, seeing it as a way of encouraging young women to think about working in the engineering sector and giving schoolgirls an insight into occupations that are only rarely considered in their career choices. “We are looking to make training opportunities for engineering roles at DEUTZ more accessible to girls and young women and to show them how varied a career in engineering can be,” says Dr. Margarete Haase, member of the DEUTZ Board of Management with responsibility for Finance, Human Resources and Public and Investor Relations.

At DEUTZ, the participants in Girls’ Day can look forward to a wide-ranging program focused on vocational training in the field of engineering. The schoolgirls will be introduced to the various occupations available at DEUTZ and given a presentation on the Company and its many different products, while the metalworking and electrical engineering (M+E) employers’ associations are organizing a mobile information center, which uses hands-on experiments to showcase the many career options that are available. Afterwards, the schoolgirls will visit the technology center, where they can learn something about the history of the world’s first engine manufacturer and see DEUTZ’s collection of historical engines.

Dr. Frank Hiller, Chairman of the DEUTZ Board of Management, is also looking to bring more women into engineering. "It's really important for us to train female staff to a high level, as women are still very much under-represented in this sector."
