Eberspaecher Group, whose origins date back to 1865, is marking its 160th anniversary by expanding into new business areas, including hydrogen technologies and mobile power systems for special vehicles, through a series of new partnerships. The company's strategy focuses on transferring its core competencies to adapt to changing market conditions.

“The transfer into new business areas opens up opportunities for long-term success in changing market conditions,” said managing partner Martin Peters in a press release. The company is developing products for various drive systems and applications beyond the traditional automotive environment.

Eberspaecher's push into the hydrogen sector includes a partnership with a Danish technology company to produce high-temperature electrolyzers. Its exhaust and acoustics division, Purem by Eberspaecher, delivered the first two units in early June. Purem is also working with a German start-up to produce pressure vessels for the storage and transport of hydrogen.

For the off-highway and specialty vehicle markets, Eberspaecher has formed a joint venture with Zeliox, a Dutch energy storage systems company, to provide mobile power sources. The collaboration will produce an all-in-one energy management system designed for applications such as workshop and construction vehicles.

“We achieve this by transferring our core competencies and many years of expertise in exhaust technology and by working together across Divisions," said Jörg Steins, CEO of the Eberspaecher Group.

Eberspaecher is also advancing its vehicle electronics portfolio. The company has developed a battery management system for automated driving functions and is in series production with the product. Through another strategic partnership, it is contributing its hardware and software expertise to the development of low-voltage starter, back-up and mild hybrid batteries.
