FEMA Corporation, with headquarters in Portage, MI, announces the groundbreaking for a new facility located at 555 Washington Street in Otsego, MI. This 15 acre site will accommodate the construction of this 40,000 sq. ft. facility and have potential for a total site plan of 150,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing in the future. After several expansions in Southwest Michigan and maximizing the campus in Portage, the location in Otsego was chosen as a key factor in FEMA’s long-term strategy. Its growth in both domestic and international markets has created the need for another campus.

The facility will initially house FEMA's precision machining division called FEMA Component Manufacturing. The new building investment will be $3.6 million, with a total investment including equipment of $6.4 million. It is anticipated the plant will run three shifts.

FEMA Component Manufacturing (CM) has been in operation since 2009 in Portage and provides complex precision machined parts and assemblies to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier I suppliers in markets including automotive, agriculture, stationary industrial, off-highway, mobile, military and construction.

FEMA CM offers turning capabilities on state-of-the-art equipment such as three Y-Axis multi-tasking machine centers, milling capacity with CNC vertical machining centers, inventory management, assembly with controlled processes including light assembly of sub-component parts and engineering design services related to precision machined parts.
