BorgWarner Inc. has secured two contracts to supply turbochargers for a major global OEM's next-generation vehicles. The agreements cover engine applications in both Europe and North America.
For the European market, BorgWarner will provide its wastegate gasoline turbocharger for 1.0-liter engines used in compact and light commercial combustion and hybrid vehicles. Production for this contract is set to begin in August 2027.
In North America, the company will supply a high-performance turbocharger for a 3.0-liter gasoline hybrid application, with production scheduled to start in September 2028.
"This award underscores our ability to win in highly contested markets by offering reliable, cost-effective solutions and long-term supply commitments," said Volker Weng, vice president of BorgWarner Inc. and president and general manager of Turbos and Thermal Technologies, in a press release announcing the business wins. "It reflects our strategic focus on supporting global OEMs with combustion engine technologies while others exit the space."
BorgWarner's wastegate turbocharger technology uses a conventional mechanism to manage boost pressure for small-displacement gasoline engines. The components will be manufactured at BorgWarner facilities in Rzeszów, Poland, and Ramos, Mexico, to support localized production for the OEM.
