Iveco Defence Vehicles, the defence and civil protection unit of CNH Industrial, has delivered the last tranche of 62 Light Armoured Vehicles (LAV) to the Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA). The handover ceremony, held at the company Headquarters in Bolzano, Italy, was attended by Brigadier General Morten Eggen, Head of Norwegian Defence Material Agency, Land Systems Division.

The fourth generation LAV has been developed from the Light Multirole Vehicle, integrating a number of upgrades requested by the customer. These include the new driveline, which offers higher performance and an improved air filtration system. With lessons learned from the field, the vehicle also provides increased payload, better performance and improved reliability.

The crew cell has been redesigned to improve crew ergonomics and incorporate new seats, a next-generation dashboard and an upgraded hardtop. These inclusions significantly increase the usable internal capacity.

This order constitutes the fourth LAV order by the Norwegian Armed Forces, with the vehicle already deployed in missions abroad. It consolidates Iveco Defence Vehicles market leadership in the multirole sector, providing a response to current and future requirements of the Norwegian Armed forces in terms of performance, mobility and crew protection.

With total sales of more than 4,000 units to 13 different countries, the Light Multirole Vehicle is Europe’s vehicle of choice to date in its category. Customers include Albania, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Lebanon, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Tunisia and United Kingdom.
