Epiroc will provide an update into the future of sustainable and digitally-powered mining at the world’s largest mining event – MINExpo International – which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sept. 24-26, 2024. This year’s MINExpo presentation will give visitors a comprehensive look at how the company is accelerating the transformation of the mining industry.

"We look forward to demonstrating at MINExpo how our innovative equipment and solutions support mining companies to achieve strengthened safety, less emissions and higher productivity,” says Helena Hedblom, President and CEO, Epiroc.

Electrification

The company will unveil a new large-capacity mine truck with an all-electric driveline. Next to it, the largest battery-electric loader from Epiroc, Scooptram ST18 SG, will be on display and further emphasize the company’s major advances in load and haul. The bucket is made with SSAB Zero, a steel based on recycled scrap produced with virtually zero fossil carbon emissions.

In addition, Epiroc will showcase two milestones in electric surface drilling rigs – the Pit Viper 271 E and SmartROC D65 BE. Both rigs unlock emissions-free operations, low noise pollution, substantial cost savings and smart automation features that improve productivity and safety.

Epiroc will also present upcoming news within electrical infrastructure and chargers, focusing on scalable, ruggedized, and agnostic solutions.

Automation

Automation and operator safety will take the spotlight as Epiroc displays the latest technology innovation with Boltec E10 S ABR (Auto Bolt Reload), a rock bolting rig with fully mechanized bolt reloading functionality. For material handling, Epiroc's Deep Automation will be displayed to showcase cutting-edge solutions for orchestrating loaders and trucks in underground mining operations.

Visitors to the booth will also get an insight into how Epiroc has expanded its automation portfolio to include OEM agnostic automation capabilities from the acquisition of RCT and the recent acquisition of ASI Mining. This allows operators to control and automate machinery of any make or model, enhancing operational flexibility, which includes the autonomous operation of surface haul trucks. In all, these developments put Epiroc at the forefront of providing customers with OEM agnostic automation solutions that support the entire mine ecosystem.

Additionally, the company will showcase the next generation of collision avoidance solutions for mining that improve safety standards in the industry.

Interoperability

MINExpo will provide an opportunity to discover Epiroc’s Groundbreaking Intelligence solutions with the focus this year on designing a flexible technology ecosystem. This makes it possible to bring together mixed fleets, legacy equipment and existing partners to speed up planning, be responsive to changes and gain actionable insights through data that facilitate better decisions.

Underground Explosives Charging

Epiroc will also showcase Avatel – the world's first semi-automated wireless underground development charging solution. Developed together with world-leading commercial explosives provider Orica, the innovative solution enables a single operator to wirelessly complete a full explosives charging cycle from the safety of an enclosed cabin, significantly improving safety in underground mining

Drilling Tools & Services

When it comes to rock drilling tools and aftermarket services, visitors to MINExpo will get a demonstration of the Powerbit X drill bit range, which strengthens safety thanks to the reduced need for changing bits, while also cutting CO2 emissions per drilled meter by up to 90%. The recently launched Epiroc ET drill string will also be on display.

Combined with its commitments within electrification, digitalization and automation, Epiroc has an overall focus on sustainability with ambitious 2030 targets. For parts and services, the Epiroc team on-site will present the company’s sustainability advances under the banner “Unlocked Circularity,” including a demonstration of how equipment and parts can be remanufactured and rebuilt. This is where the company’s flexible solution Midlife services comes into play and prolongs the lifespan of machines and promotes reuse, refurbishment and regeneration.

The show will also feature the launch of COPROD for Simba, a new rock drilling system for underground production drilling. By improving drill length, speed, and precision, COPROD for Simba unlocks new opportunities in mine design, such as double benches and higher draw bells, while lowering cost per tonne and energy consumption.

MINExpo will allow visitors to discover Epiroc’s premium line of exploration equipment designed for the most demanding challenges. Drill rigs, in-the-hole tools, diamond core bits and RC products for recovering samples will be on display, alongside innovative data analytic services that empower exploration drillers with valuable insights.

According to Epiroc President and CEO Helena Hedblom, “The mining industry is in the midst of a transition toward more automated, digitalized and electrified operations – all of which brings significant benefits – and Epiroc is proud to lead the way.”

Visitors to MINExpo International 2024 in Las Vegas will find Epiroc at Booth 13419 in the West Hall.
