Atlas Copco soars thanks to mining and China

Atlas Copco enjoys growth despite the recession thanks to China's booming economy and growth in the mining industry.

Atlas Copco's Senior Vice President for its Construction and Mining division, speaking to assembled mining and construction press in London, Bjorn Rosengren, spoke of the company's successes in the wake of the recession.

Historically Atlas Copco's strongest area of sales had been Europe, but this is rapidly being overtaken by China and Asia - and the boom in mining and construction in those areas have been the key driver in the company's performance - and Rosengren sees this pattern continuing.

Asian and Chinese business has grown 522% over the past ten years (China alone by over 600%), as these potentially enormous economies start to try and regain their former status. (For hundreds of years China and India were the dominant forces in global GDP - up until the industrial revenue, and on recent growth patterns they are making big inroads again - China more so than India for the moment).
