Construction Spending Rose 1.5% In December

Housing and government construction spending was up, helping give December spending numbers a 1.5% boost.

For the fifth month in a row construction spending rose; December saw a 1.5% increase in spending. 

The increase was due to slight increases in residential as well as nonresidential building. Government spending also saw a small increase. 

However, spending is still not as high as it once was, and many analysts believe it will take several years to return to "normal."
