ASABE Completes Revision of Previously Adopted ISO Standard for Front-Mounted PTOs

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has completed the revision to a previously adopted ISO standard ISO 8759-1:1998, Agricultural wheel tractors – Front-mounted equipment – Part 1: Power take-off and three-point linkage.

The revision, ANSI/ASABE AD8759-1:1998 JAN2013, Agricultural wheel tractors – Front-mounted equipment – Part 1: Power take-off and three-point linkage, has now standardized Type 1 PTOs with 35-mm diameter, 540 rpm, and anti-clockwise rotation as viewed from the front of the tractor. Other changes include specifying the same anti-clockwise rotation for Type 2 and Type 3 PTOs; the rotation direction that is most widely used on a global basis.
