Researchers Create Biodiesel From Evergreens

Researchers have recently found a way to extract a gene from an evergreen tree to create biodiesel.

Researchers at the Dept. of Energy's (DOE) Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) have found a way to extract a gene from evergreen trees to make biodiesel.

The gene, bisabolane, was combined with yeast and E. coli to produce a compound which can be converted for use as a diesel fuel substitute.
