New Flyer receives order for 218 Xcelsior CNG buses from Orange County

Orange County has placed an order for 218 Xcelsior compressed natural gas buses from New Flyer, further adding to the county's fleet of environmentally friendly buses.

New Flyer of America Inc., a subsidiary of New Flyer Industries Inc., the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in the United States and Canada, announces that Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has approved two contracts to purchase of 218 (234 equivalent units or EUs) Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy-duty buses.

The contracts are firm orders for 202 XN40 Xcelsior 40-foot buses, with options for 10 more and 16 (32 EUs) XN60 60-foot articulated Xcelsior buses. OCTA has a growing fleet of environmentally friendly New Flyer CNG buses, and with these awards will increase their active New Flyer fleet to 556 vehicles.
