Visual Communications Company (VCC), a global leader in illuminated components has purchased St. Paul, MN, based electronic components manufacturer, Wilbrecht LEDCO Inc.

Founded in 1956 as Wilbrecht Electronics Inc., the company got its start by providing the hearing aid industry with the world’s smallest precision potentiometers and switches. As the business grew, it shifted into other markets, eventually gaining leadership in illuminated components through cutting edge technology used by NASA and the military.

The addition of LEDCO’s products presents a significant opportunity for VCC’s customers, especially in the mission-critical industrial and military markets. LEDCO’s LED indicators meet the highest quality standards for consistent uniformity, including RoHS compliant components.

This new acquisition will create a ripple effect of product line expansions, from long-body LED indicators that will fit thick panels to sealed indicators with high IP ratings, and many more.

Most notable is the addition of night vision compatible panel mount LEDs, which are rated IP66 for rugged and reliable operation. These LEDs are ideal for a range of applications, including aircraft avionics, as well as communications and military equipment.

In another exciting line expansion, VCC will offer several high-voltage LED indicators to support the industrial environment. New LED series will soon become available to customers, with voltages ranging from 120-240.

“We are excited to add LEDCO and its innovative products to our lineup,” says Andrew Zanelli, President and CEO of VCC. “The VCC team has gained significant new ground this year, and we are on track to deliver 40% top-line growth. This acquisition is a huge win for VCC and our customers — one of many this year!”

Customers and distributors will be notified of new products resulting from this acquisition as they become available.
