Federal-Mogul Powertrain, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation, designs, develops and manufactures mechanical face seals that are the product of choice to protect precision assemblies from the harsh environments and hostile debris experienced in industries such as mining, construction and agriculture.

• Provides metal-to-metal mechanical seal that is highly resistant to wear and ingress of abrasive particles
• Well suited for use in wide range of applications, including off-highway trucks, construction machinery, tunnelling machines, stone crushers, agricultural and plant equipment
• Consists of two metal rings, one stationary and the other rotating, each backed by elastomeric ring that pushes the faces together
• Controlled force is exerted by confining the elastomers within a defined space in their respective housings
• All relative movement occurs at contact between metal rings, so elastomers are only required to provide a static seal which does not wear
• Resilience of elastomer elements makes design highly robust and able to accept fluctuations in pressure, radial shaft movement and dimensional changes due to progressive wear of metal faces
• Features hard, broad area of contact to increase wear resistance and robustness
• Numerous specialized seal ring materials have been developed to provide resistance to wear, seizure, scoring and corrosion

• Uses unique and patented design for elastomeric part of seal with integral dirt exclusion lip and heavy-duty spin protection
• Features improved protection significantly, leading to reduced leakage, extended service life and resisting compression from dried mud that could otherwise result in subsequent leakage when seal has to follow movements
