Turntide Technologies has announced an expansion of its axial flux motor portfolio to include the AF300 and AF400 models. Available in single- and double-stacked configurations, the new motors are designed to provide high power density for hybrid and electric systems, enabling original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate more powerful electric components into space-constrained applications.

The AF300 model provides more than 192 Newton meters (Nm) of continuous torque, while the AF400 provides up to 290 Nm. The expanded portfolio is intended to give manufacturers greater flexibility to match motor performance to specific application requirements for a range of hybrid and electric vehicles and equipment.

According to Turntide, the compact, low-profile design of the motors allows OEMs a path to hybridization or electrification without redesigning the entire platform. This design also enables fleet operators to retrofit existing equipment, such as diesel trucks, to extend equipment life and reduce fuel costs. The company states that converting to a hybrid system can decrease fuel consumption by 10% to 20%, depending on the application.

Additionally, the previously announced single-stacked AF430S and double-stacked AF430D models are the first in the portfolio available with cast casings designed for high-volume production. Casting is utilized to improve durability, consistency, and cost efficiency. Turntide plans to extend cast casings across the full axial flux motor portfolio in the future.
