Swedish defense company Akers Krutbruk has qualified a Scania truck for high level mine protection and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) protection. Known as 4G, the protection suite offers the same protection level as any modern combat vehicle.
With the system trucks can easily be converted from non-protected to protected using Scania's modular system and switching cabs.
Akers Krutbruk developed 4G for trucks that may be operating in humanitarian or peace keeping missions, but are still vulnerable to threats from explosives.
