Cummins Inc. has unveiled its next generation of ultra-clean engines designed to meet European Union (EU) Stage V emissions regulations in 2019.
- Lineup includes the F3.8, B4.5, B6.7 and L9 engine models
- Ranges from 100-430 hp (75-321 kW) and 3.8- to 9-L capacities
- Achieves major increase in power and torque by removing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system and using Cummins' Single Module aftertreatment technology
- Designed to reduce Stage V cost of ownership to levels equivalent to that of engines meeting emissions regulations as far back as 10 years ago
- Features 10% average increased power output compared with that of current Stage IV and Tier 4 Final engines
- Peak torque is increased by almost 20%
- Combined cost of fuel and urea consumption is reduced by 3% on average, depending on application
- X12 and X15 engines complete the lineup, taking output up to 675 hp (503 kW) for heavy-duty applications
- F3.8 is available at a 74 hp (55 kW) rating, well suited for compact equipment requiring high levels of torque
- B6.7 offers up to 326 hp (243.1 kW) with peak torque of 1,375 Nm (1,014.1 ft.-lbs.), a 30% increase over Stage IV
- L9 delivers up to 430 hp (321 kW), a 30 hp (22.4 kW) increase over Stage IV, and a 13% increase in peak torque to 1,846 Nm (1,361.5 ft.-lbs.)
