At the end of May, SIH (Saic-Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle)—a joint-venture between SAIC, IVECO and CQME—delivered 120 SIH Geylon M500 4x2 port tractors, powered by 350 hp Cursor 9 engines manufactured by SFH, joint-venture of FPT Industrial in Chongqing, China, to SIPG (Shanghai International Port Group), the world’s largest container port logistics operator.
The delivery represents the largest single batch order by SIPG in 2020 and a positive signal for the global economy. It demonstrates both renewed confidence in future operations on the part of a leading group, while also marking the restart of business operations in China.
Painted in SIPG’s signature lucky red and customized for port logistics operations with a flattopped cab and tailored electrical system, the new 120-strong SIH Geylon M500 4x2 port tractor fleet has been equipped with purpose-made FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engines, guaranteeing reliable, efficient and sustainable operations for heavy-duty and prolonged-shift missions such as container management and transport.
The new SIH Geylon M500 4x2 port tractor fleet has been customized for port applications.
These in-line 6-cylinder, 8.7 L, 350 hp at 2,100 rpm, Euro V engines feature an electronic control high pressure common rail system and turbocharger with waste-gate, delivering 1,500 Nm at 1,200-1,500 rpm max torque and boast a low fuel consumption of just 190 g/kW· h of diesel.
Through this delivery, FPT Industrial demonstrates its desire to further consolidate its presence in the Chinese market as a leading expert in and provider of reliable and advanced power generation solutions.
