EPA and NHTSA publish official proposal for GHG regulations

The EPA and NHTSA have published their official proposal for greenhouse gas regulations for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.

On July 13, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published their official proposal for greenhouse gas regulations (GHG) in The Federal Register.

The public has until September 11 to comment on the proposal.

Medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers will be covered by the regulation, which if adopted as currently proposed will be phased in starting with 2018 model year vehicles. Full implementation is set for 2027, and is designed to become more stringent over time and incorporate new technologies as they become available to the market.
