Design & Engineering Insights: Danfoss Digital Displacement Pumps Offer High Level of Efficiency

Digital Displacement is the selective enabling of individual cylinders within a rotating hydraulic pump which provides more precise control and improved efficiency.

Eric Bretey, Director of Digital Displacement Solutions at Danfoss, discusses the many applications and benefits of the Danfoss Digital Displacement pump technology.

Digital Displacement is the selective enabling of individual cylinders within a rotating hydraulic pump. This allows for a high level of efficiency. Software control of the pump enables the company to do interesting things with control modes and get the pump to act exactly as the customer wants, says Bretey.

The company introduced the first Digital Displacement pump model, a 96 cc version, at bauma 2019 which can be used in machines up to 20 tons. Danfoss plans to continue developing the technology and create more models to enable use in a variety of applications.
