April marked yet another solid month for ag tractor and combine sales, according to data released late last week by AEM.
Total farm tractor sales in the U.S. saw a jump of 12%, compared to this time a year ago, while the 4-wheel-drive category saw an increase of more than 32%. Meanwhile, year-to-date total farm tractor sales in the U.S. were up a little more than 8%.
Self-propelled combines and tractors between 40 and 100 hp were the only two U.S. categories to see decreases in April, falling 4.2% and 1.8%, respectively. For the year, however, sales of self-propelled combines are up nearly 20%.
Conversely, Canadian retail sales of ag tractors and combines did not fare well during April. Total sales of tractors were down 2.5%, while combines saw a massive drop of 26.7%, when compared to this time a year ago.
