Renault Trucks, a French manufacturer based in Lyon Métropole, announces the construction of a new eco-responsible R&D center in Lyon Saint-Priest. It will extend over 11,300 m2 and will open in the first half of 2021. 

A major project that reinforces the influence of the Lyon site, it will be the second largest R&D center of the Volvo Group.

This R&D center is part of an ambitious 5-year real estate program initiated by Renault Trucks and the Volvo Group, to prepare the brand for new innovations and to bring together, in optimal conditions, all business expertise. Proximity, exchange, fluidity: the pillars of a new and more competitive organization

In order to develop synergy, innovation and ensure the success of the next product ranges of Renault Trucks and the group, the new R&D center in Saint-Priest will bring together more than 1,000 experts (out of the 1,400 engineers on the Lyon site) and consolidate its place among the 10 most important research and development services in France. Note: engineers and researchers will now work alongside the Purchasing teams. A co-location bias aimed at: smoothing the exchanges between the teams and speed up the validation and concretization processes of the future truck development projects.

A rupturistic optimization that also results in a completely redesigned ergonomics of the premises: the development of the site, designed on three levels, favors the transversality of the teams, essential to the success of projects and innovations for the brand. The organization of offices, open spaces, creative rooms ... the whole building was designed to promote exchange and innovation.

Eco-design, well-being at work and cost optimization: a project designed by 100% Lyon stakeholders

Realized by the firm ARCHIGROUP, backed by an expert in sustainable development (ETAMINE), the new building will be 25% less energy-consuming than that imposed by French regulations. The design of the new center is based on the most recent and demanding recommendations regarding "High Environmental Quality" (Environmental Certification NF HQE Sustainable Building).

The significant investment of € 33 million in the construction of this new structure has been optimized by examining its entire life cycle, taking into account not only the purchase costs, but also the maintenance costs. , energy, consumables and waste management.

This new R&D center, whose first stone will be laid during the summer of 2019, is the image of an innovative manufacturer, focused on efficiency and durability. Expected delivery is the first half of 2021!
