SEM's New 922 AWD Motor Grader Features Powershift Transmission with Torque Converter for Smooth Shifting and Reduced Fuel Consumption

On display at bauma China 2012, SEM's new 922 AWD Motor Grader uses a powershift transmission with torque converter to provide smooth shifting as well as reduced fuel consumption.

SEM is showcasing the new 922 AWD Motor Grader to thousands of visitors attending bauma China 2012, one ofAsia’s largest construction and mining industry trade fairs. The 922 AWD Motor Grader, with 220 flywheel horsepower is designed to meet customers’ needs while offering more performance and less fuel consumption, with increased versatility. Motor graders have played an increasingly important role in China by contributing to road, railway, airport, water and irrigation industry infrastructure development. The SEM 922 AWD will be launched in January 2013.

A Productive and Efficient Machine Designed for the Customer

The 922 AWD offers customers a motor grader that is built for simple, easy, comfortable operation. The advanced powershift transmission along with the torque convertor drive provides smooth shifts and reduced fuel consumption. The load sensing hydraulic system is designed for consistent and predictable implement movements for better accuracy.

The All Wheel Drive (AWD) system improves traction in wet or poor underfoot conditions. Driven by dual displacement motors, the AWD system maximizes torque and delivers increased power to the ground. The exclusive steering compensation enables a “powered turn” with improved control, less damage to finished surfaces and reduced turning radius in tight working conditions.

Maximizing Operator Comfort

With operators working long hours, the SEM922 AWD Motor Grader is designed to maximize operator comfort and reduce operator fatigue. The spacious cab is mounted on the machine’s front frame for superior visibility to the critical areas such as the moldboard and the front wheels. This improves moldboard positioning and overall operator confidence.

The cab interior features efficiently spaced, low-effort, short throw levers allowing for ease of multi-function control. The instrument cluster provides good visibility to critical machine parameters. And the standard air conditioner with multiple vents provides good cross flow ventilation.
