Cummins Sees Wide Range of Power Solutions for Off-Highway Equipment

Jeremy Harsin of Cummins explains how a variety of power system advancements are taking place to meet the varied needs of the off-highway equipment industry.

Future technology in off-highway equipment starts now, says Jeremy Harsin, Cummins Global Construction Manager. Systems and components which will power heavy machinery into the next decade are already under development, including batteries, hydrogen fueled systems and advanced diesel engines.

A variety of power solutions will be necessary as there is no one solution that will fit the needs of every machine or application. As such, Cummins is making research and development investments in various power options and working with OEM customers to create solutions which will best fit industry requirements.

Sustainability initiatives—including emissions regulations—are playing a large part in the technology currently under development. Cummins is also working to make itself and its operations more sustainable.
