Dana Incorporated has announced that its off-highway axle manufacturing operation in Pune, India, has delivered its 500,000th axle recently. Dana India Private Ltd. supplies Spicer axles for agricultural, construction, and material-handling equipment manufacturers around the world.

Dana first established off-highway axle operations in Chakan Pune in 2001, producing an annual volume of approximately 1,000 axles, primarily for the agricultural market. In 2007, the company opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Hinjewadi Pune, an important industrial hub serving the Mumbai ports and the surrounding metro areas. Its upgraded off-highway axle assembly facility allowed the company to increase axle production and better support both global and regional customers. Its current facility features state-of-the-art machining, assembly, design, and testing equipment and capabilities; a fully matured component supply chain; and an in-house conveyorized paint shop.

"Reaching a milestone like this reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers, as well as the highly motivated and team-oriented work force we are fortunate to have here in Pune," says Marcus King, Senior Director of Asia Pacific Off-Highway operations for Dana Incorporated. "We attribute much of our success to the dedication of our employees, and because of this, I believe we are poised for many more significant growth milestones in the future."

Nearly 200 people currently work at the Hinjewadi facility, which is strategically positioned in proximity to Dana's other regional operations. In addition to this facility, Dana has 12 other manufacturing locations in India that specialize in a range of segments, including commercial vehicle, light vehicle, and power technologies.
