Dana Incorporated has introduced its Spicer S172 Series single drive axle for Class 7 and 8 vehicles.
- Retains robustness and strength of existing S170 single drive axle, but weighs more than 60 lbs. (27.2 kg) less
- Crafted for 4x2, 6x2, and 8x2 applications up to 25,000 lbs. (11,340 kg) GAWR
- Offers broad range of gear ratios, from 3.07-6.14, and features low hypoid offset with High-Power Density AdvanTEK gearing to drive maximum efficiency
- High-strength pinion bearings allow for greater lifespan under heavy loads, improving durability and overall performance
- Passive lube management system requires less lube while utilizing patented meter to optimize amount of lube flow to high-efficiency bearings
- Can be paired with Dana tag axle as part of Spicer EconoTrek tandem axle, a durable, lightweight 6x2 configuration that offers increased fuel economy, improved performance, and reduced maintenance for heavy-duty linehaul tractors
- System is up to 3% more efficient and up to 380 lbs. (172.4 kg) lighter than typical 6x4 offerings
