On November 6, Comer Industries was awarded Sustainability Supplier for EMEA region by CNH Industrial during the third CNH Industrial EMEA Supplier Advisory Council.
Comer Industries CEO Matteo Storchi attended the event, with a speech focused on sustainability in the company.
The Sustainability Supplier Award was given to Comer Industries thanks to the pursuit of excellence in the field of environmental and quality certifications (ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001: 2000, OHSAS 18001), to corporate sustainability in terms of safety and environmental protection, and to human resources management. In particular, the company was greatly appreciated for the commitment in the CO2 reduction and the territorial development in which the company operates.
Comer Industries has reported a significant decrease in the number of workplace injuries (the percentage has fallen by 28% from 2010 to 2013, with 1,500 preventive actions taken); the company has adopted a new system for consumptions’ monitoring and conceived a development plan which will provide 10% energy savings within 2017 through several actions in the production facilities, including the installation of solar panels, and replacement of lighting system with new LED technology.
As far as the education is concerned, Comer Academy – the company training school - held 169 classes in 2013 (21% more than the previous year).
Comer Industries organized several initiatives for employees and the communities in which the company operates: the Christmas and summer parties, the partnerships with Reggio Emilia theatres, the Red Cross and the universities ("La Borsa per partire" is a scholarship destined to students of the Reggio Emilia Engineering Department).
At the end of the presentation, Matteo Storchi focused on the 2012 earthquake which involved the Reggiolo, Moglia villages and neighboring areas in which Comer Industries has several manufacturing facilities and where many employees have suffered damage to their homes. The company has decided to support their associates with apartments and donations to facilitate their everyday life recovery.
