
Migatron Corp. has released the RPS-429AA-80P-IS2, an intrinsically safe ultrasonic sensor designed for non-contact level measurement and object detection in hazardous locations. The sensor is intended for applications in industries such as mining, chemical processing, and oil and gas where explosive gases or dust may be present.
The sensor's intrinsically safe design operates with limited energy levels to prevent ignition from sparks or thermal effects. This allows for precise distance measurement in classified areas including Class I, II and III hazardous locations as well as Zone 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 and 22 explosive atmospheres.
The RPS-429AA-80P-IS2 features a robust, IP66/IP67-rated enclosure to protect internal components from dust, moisture and washdown exposure. It integrates a 4–20 mA 2-wire current loop design and includes temperature compensation to ensure stable readings in challenging industrial environments.
