Sapa Extrusions North America recently received an Outstanding Supplier Support Award for Quality from Spartan Motors Inc. during the company’s annual SPARC (Spartan Performance and Review Committee) Awards Banquet.

This award is given to suppliers who have consistently exceeded the Spartan performance criteria and have contributed significantly to the business development efforts of Spartan Motors.

Sapa Extrusions North America earned this recognition due to the support provided throughout several Spartan Motors’ program launch efforts in Wakarusa, IN and Charlotte, MI. Several of Sapa’s North America facilities—including the Connersville, IN, Elkhart, IN and Cressona, PA locations—supplied Spartan Motors with parts that were utilized for lightweighting applications in parcel delivery vehicles that serve the transportation market, one the fastest-growing industries to adopt aluminum as a material source for achieving better fuel efficiency and cost-savings.

“We treat our customers’ business as our own, which is why we emphasize customer service and take our role as a solutions provider seriously,” says Cooper Fisher, National Accounts Manager—Transportation at Sapa Extrusions North America.

Throughout this series of launch projects, Sapa helped Spartan Motors overcome various challenges associated with engineering change notices, expedites and schedule changes to support overall production and the launch schedules. With these projects underway and a firm supplier partnership in place, Sapa plans to continue to support Spartan Motors by providing additional design recommendations to achieve further production cost-savings in future projects.
