PSI Propane Engine Powering New CLARK Forklift

PSI's 2.4-L propane engine will be used in CLARK's new GTS propane-powered IC-Cushion forklift line being introduced at ProMat 2017.

Power Solutions International Inc. (PSI), a leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of emissions-certified, alternative-fuel power systems, announces that Lexington, KY-based CLARK Material Handling Company will launch a new forklift product featuring PSI's 2.4-L propane engine at the ProMat 2017 Expo.

ProMat, the largest expo for material handling and logistics equipment and technologies in North America, takes place in Chicago, April 3-6.

The new GTS propane-powered (LPG) model is part of CLARK's IC-Cushion forklift line, which targets distribution, manufacturing, warehousing and trucking applications. CLARK plans to roll the new propane models out in June of this year.

"We're excited to be represented at ProMat through our partnership with CLARK," says Gary Winemaster, CEO and President of PSI. "CLARK is an industry leader, and this latest launch continues our tradition together of delivering durable, high-performance products for the material handling market."

The new forklift is powered by PSI's certified 2.4-L LPG engine. According to PSI, the 4-cylinder, premium engine incorporates design features and enhancements that provide power, efficiency, durability, and noise and vibration advantages over its competition. These advantages include peak power of 63.0 hp (47.1 kW) at 2,800 rpm and torque of 123.9 lbs.-ft. (168.0 Nm) at 1,600 rpm

PSI has provided engines to CLARK since 2009. Its 4.3-L LPG engines power CLARK forklifts in the 4- to 7-ton class, while its 3.0-L LPG engine powers 2.5- to 3.5-ton lifts. CLARK utilizes PSI's 2.0- and 2.4-L LPG engines in 2.0- to 3.3-ton products.

"The PSI 4.3L engine is the mainstay of our medium internal combustion product line and has proven to be reliable and trouble-free throughout a wide range of applications," says Chuck Moratz, Senior Vice President of Global Engineering of CLARK. "We look forward to the same performance and customer acceptance in this smaller capacity range."

CLARK Material Handling is displaying its latest products in booth #S2433 at ProMat 2017 at Chicago's McCormick Place.
