Detroit Diesel announced that it sold more than 25,000 engines featuring BlueTec Emissions Technology in 2010. BlueTec is Detroit Diesel’s proven selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emission-reducing technology that meets the stringent 2010 EPA emissions standards while delivering best-in-class fuel efficiency.
Since the start of 2010, fleets of all sizes with 2010 BlueTec-equipped Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines have logged more than 150 million miles, consistently realizing up to 5% or greater fuel economy improvement when compared to its EPA 2007 product – resulting in an average annual savings of more than $2,700 per truck.
“With diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) now available at more than 3,500 locations in North America, including more than 100 locations with DEF available on the fuel island, BlueTec emissions technology has proven to be both a convenient and cost-effective solution,” says Brad Williamson, director, engine and component marketing, for Daimler Trucks North America. “We’re proud of our chosen 2010 emissions solution, and our sales confirm that our customers have accepted and benefited from this exceptional product.”
From the lightweight and versatile DD13, to the fleet-powering and fuel efficient DD15, to the heavy-load hauling DD16, Detroit Diesel offers the most comprehensive line of heavy duty engines available in the market today. Since introducing the groundbreaking DD15 in 2008, Detroit Diesel has sold more than 90,000 DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines.
“Detroit Diesel’s family of engines delivers power, performance and efficiency for any and every application,” says Williamson. “We know what our customers demand, and we deliver at every turn.”
Backed by a solid warranty with extended warranty options, the DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines have the longest service intervals of any heavy-duty engine. And with more than 800 locations in North America, Detroit Diesel’s trained and qualified technicians are never far away.
