At the end of 2016, Thermamax began the build and fitting out of an additional production hall at 56 Ölhafenstrasse, a few hundred meters from the company’s headquarters. The new, 16,000 sq. ft. production space was commissioned mid-March 2017 and will concentrate on turbocharger insulations for vehicle applications.
"For us, this was an absolutely key investment," says Ralf Grosshauser, CEO at Thermamax. "By integrating the complete turbocharger assembly line, including warehousing, logistics, and quality control into a separate area, we’ve been able to increase efficiency of material flows and processes for the automotive business. We are now well equipped to exploit the high manufacturing volumes demanded by this market from their large, series-production orders." 2017 will see a five-fold increase in turbocharger insulations at Thermamax compared to 2015: this positive development will continue over the next few years.
The new production hall will see several thousand turbochargers insulated, tested, and despatched in a three-shift operation. Specially designed and automated production lines ensure that the high quality standards and strict delivery schedules demanded by the automotive industry, can be met and maintained.
By investing in the new production hall in Mannheim, Thermamax has not only expanded its production capacity and therefore strengthened its position as a trusted partner for the automobile industry, but is also making an important contribution to job security at the site, confirming its position as an attractive employer in the region.
