Luiz Marcelo Daniel has been appointed Vice President Hub Latin America—Americas Region. Daniel will be responsible for strengthening the market position of Volvo CE and SDLG in the Latin American markets while reinforcing the brands’ efforts to bolster machine uptime, provide unique solutions for their customers and ensure the best value at every stage of machine lifecycle.
In his new role, Daniel will report to Stephen Roy, President Sales Region Americas, and will be based in Curitiba, Brazil. Daniel will replace Afranio Chuerie, the current Vice President Hub Latin America, who will remain in the position until March 31, working with Daniel to ensure a smooth handover.
“What the Latin American team has been able to accomplish under Afranio’s leadership during a very challenging period is absolutely fantastic,” Daniel says. “I plan to continue on this path with the collaboration of this great team while working together with the Americas’ leadership team toward a common vision.”
Roy explains that the new appointment for Latin America is aligned to Volvo CE’s strategy to help customers as they grow their own companies.
“Daniel’s appointment is part of our efforts in Latin America to meet our customers’ demands in the region and provide unique solutions. We want to make sure that Volvo CE customers enjoy the highest machine uptimes in the industry and have the best value at every stage of their machine lifecycle,” Roy says.
Daniel joined the Volvo Group as product planning engineer at Volvo Trucks Brazil in 1986, following sales and general management positions at Volvo Cars. After holding a variety of senior management positions outside the Volvo Group, he returned to Volvo in 2007 to manage key accounts overseeing the Latin American markets, where he helped drive new business development and increase market share in core segments. Between 2010 and 2012 he managed the company’s commercial operations in Brazil, and in 2013 he moved to United States to serve as vice president of key accounts for Volvo CE sales Region Americas, managing the company’s relationship with both private and governmental key customers in the region.
Says Chuerie, “With his background and expertise in marketing and sales, Luiz brings with him an exceptional understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead in Latin America.”
