Volvo Mining will receive dedicated financial resources and lead the management of the group’s mining product and service portfolio worldwide. It will also coordinate research projects across the group, with the aim of improving operational efficiency, reducing emissions and enhancing safety. The initiative reflects the growing need for integrated solutions that connect machinery, transportation, automation and services across mining operations.
The new entity will initially target mining companies and contractors in Sweden, Norway and Finland, with plans to expand into additional markets in phases. Volvo Group executives said the dedicated organization will help strengthen customer relationships, improve collaboration with retail partners and combine the Group’s expertise in equipment, vehicles and autonomous technology to deliver greater value across mining operations.
Also effective Jan. 1, 2027, Per-Erik Lindström, currently senior vice president of Volvo Trucks International, has been appointed head of Volvo Mining. He will lead the development of the new organization, which aims to become a long-term partner to the mining industry as customers pursue higher productivity, improved safety and increasingly ambitious sustainability goals.
