CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex training simulators, announces the availability of the new Vortex Edge, the latest addition to its construction equipment simulator product line.

The Vortex Edge laptop simulator is a compact and flexible training tool that allows construction equipment operator trainers to deploy virtual equipment in classrooms, in order to demonstrate machine components, safe operator practices, and equipment behavior.

The compact Vortex Edge can be transported in a single carrying case, and comes loaded with any of a series of equipment training pack bundles, including RT mobile crane with tower crane; hydraulic excavator with wheel loader; crawler crane; backhoe loader; and motor grader.

The Vortex Edge is designed to plug into classroom displays or projectors, or can simply be operated as is, out of the box. It can be used for effective self-paced learning on the trainee’s desktop, for instructor-led classroom instruction, or even as a “showcase simulator” for recruitment events.

With the Vortex Edge, trainers can complement classroom training theory with simulation-based examples and operating scenarios. Developed in collaboration with heavy equipment schools, the Vortex Edge comes bundled with training exercises that cover basic controls and operations, as well as challenges that trainees can use to benchmark their skills as they progress through the course.

The Vortex Edge runs on the same engineering-grade simulation that powers the Vortex simulators used by training schools and fleet owners internationally. This means that all machine components behave as they do in the real world, whether operators are digging a trench or catching a swing.

With the Vortex Edge, trainers can show — and do — rather than tell. Trainers can illustrate proper operating techniques, respond to trainee questions with hands-on demonstrations from various angles, explain how to program the HMI/LMI, and show trainees how to handle adverse climate conditions and machine faults. Trainees can then practice these skills in the classroom before getting on the real machine.

Attendees at ICUEE 2017 can experience the Vortex Edge at booth 3453 from October 3-5, 2017.
