TOBROCO-GIANT Introduces Compact GT5048 Telehandler

The new GT5048 features a lifting height of 4.8 m and limited turning circle to ease maneuverability in space-constrained applications.

Gt5048 1

For working at heights, TOBROCO-GIANT introduces the compact and versatile GT5048. TOBROCO-GIANT has taken the design of this all-rounder to the next level through the extensive knowledge gained with its predecessor, the 4548 TENDO HD. By combining this knowledge with the latest technologies, a modern 2x2 meter telehandler has been developed with a lifting height of 4.8 m.

Latest technologies

The GT5048 is powered by a new and over 10% stronger Kubota diesel engine with 36 kW (50 hp) power output. To keep emissions to a minimum and to meet Stage V, it is equipped with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a particulate filter (DPF). The new engine has a larger displacement and higher torque at a lower speed. This provides more pulling power at the bottom, gives a lower noise level and also increases the driving speed to 28 km/h.

The telehandler has hydrostatic all-wheel drive with automotive steering through 8-ton axles and a heavy planetary final drive.

To create more space for new components and to ensure that service points are easily accessible, a new engine box has been developed that is 2 cm wider and 4 cm longer. At the same time, the air inlet has been enlarged for optimum cooling of the engine.

In addition, two fuel filters are now used and a heavier battery is fitted as standard. The exhaust has been repositioned and is now positioned at the top, next to the lift arm, for good drainage and to prevent dust from developing under the machine. The GT5048 can also be equipped with a reversible cooling fin to remove dirt and dust particles in the radiator.

Software aids performance

The electrical system now comes from Bosch Rexroth and the machine is equipped with a new cable harness. The software is developed entirely in-house and ensures that all components work together optimally and deliver good performance. These innovations give dealers the opportunity to use a diagnostic tool to collect information for troubleshooting.

Compact and stable

Because of a width of 1.6 m and a height of 1.97 m (with cabin), the GT5048 falls into the 2x2 m class for compact telehandlers. Thanks to the four-wheel steering, the machine has a limited turning circle (inner radius of 1,200 mm). This makes it easy to work with the machine in small spaces or indoors. Optionally, the telehandler can be equipped with two wheel steering and a dog walk so that it can easily be moved sideways along a wall.

New workplace

A completely new workplace has been developed for ease of use and user-friendliness.

For example, the steering column is taken from the last G models. This means that it is adjustable in height and depth and that all information is available on the display. This includes the oil temperature and last moment protection. The use of this steering column and a new seat has also created more space for the user.

The proportional joystick makes it easy to operate all important functions with one hand while the arm rests on an ergonomically shaped armrest. Via new control panels, functions such as lighting and wiper, but also options such as two wheel steering and dog walk, are clearly displayed and easy to operate. In addition to the steering column, rotary knobs are installed for heating and optional air conditioning.

Safety first

The GT5048 has been extensively tested for safety and stability by an independent body and shows that the telehandler meets the international EN ISO 12100 and EN 1459 standards. EN ISO 12100 is the international standard for the safety of machines (general) and EN 1459 is a European standard for the safety and stability of rough terrain telehandlers.

In addition, the safety roof and the cabin are ISO certified in the field of ROPS/FOPS security. The bonnet has been redesigned for greater right-hand visibility and a curved windshield and narrow pillars provide good all-round visibility. For extra protection, the front window can even be equipped with a protective grille.

TOBROCO-GIANT has now started production of the GT5048 and the first machines were delivered to dealers in Europe in March.
