Design & Engineering Insights: NI Electric Vehicle Hardware-in-the-Loop Test Architecture

The HIL technology makes it easy for design teams to scale the testing and validation to specific components or entire electric vehicle powertrain systems.

NI's Electric Vehicle Hardware-in-the-Loop Test Architecture aids with the validation of software components for common electric vehicle powertrain components, such as motors and inverters. Because electrified components are fundamentally different from those in traditional combustion systems, they require different testing and validation capabilities.

Noah Reding, Director of Validation, Transportation at NI, says the system allows users to focus on specific aspects of a design, such as the controls, as well as an entire electric powertrain system to see how all of the parts will work together. This is feasible with the HIL technology as it can be scaled to different types of components and validation needs.
