Edison Gold-Winning Perkins SmartCap Displayed at INTERMAT 2018

Visitors to the Perkins stand at Intermat had a chance to meet the Perkins Engines team and learn more about the advantages of the Edison Gold-winning Perkins SmartCap and the Perkins My Engine App. The team took home the award earlier in April in New York City. 

Being recognized with an Edison Award has become one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business. The awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements literally changed the world, garnered him more nearly 1,100 U.S. patents, and made him a household name around the world.

We are very proud of this award and of the cap, the world’s first low cost engine-specific telematics device.” 

Installed simply by replacing the existing oil filler cap, the Perkins SmartCap allows end users to connect their mobile device to their engine via the Perkins My Engine App on their smartphone. The cap monitors the Perkins engine and sends data direct to the app. The app can be downloaded free of charge from both Apple and Google App stores.

The combination of the app and cap will give Perkins customers valuable engine data such as engine running hours, engine location, service reminders and log data plus a parts book, consumables information and an OMM (Operating Maintenance Manual).

The app, which was launched last year, is already proving popular with end customers. It is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Portuguese with more languages scheduled to be released this year.

The low-priced Perkins SmartCap, which has no ongoing costs, is now being sold within Australia, the European Union, New Zealand, Canada, the UAE, the U.S. and in additional countries in Africa and South America. It is continually obtaining certification in more countries and is available via the Perkins distribution network.
