Power Solutions Propane Engine Featured During Work Truck Show

The 8.8 L engine provides the torque and power of a diesel engine to Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp.’s S2G Work Truck Vehicle.

Power Solutions International Inc. (PSI), a leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of emissions-certified, alternative-fuel power systems, teamed with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) to showcase the new S2G Work Truck 8.8-L propane engine during the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN, on March 6-8, 2019. The engine is part of FCCC’s DriveForce non-diesel engine line.

Providing 270 hp at 2,600 rpm and 565 lbs.-ft. of torque at 1,500 rpm, the EPA and CARB emission-certified engine provides uncompromised power and performance, maximum fuel efficiency and fuel flexibility to FCCC’s medium-duty truck chassis. “PSI’s 8.8-liter propane engine is a clean-burning, purpose-built engine that offers the torque and power of a diesel engine at near-idle RPM levels,” PSI’s CEO John Miller says. “We’re very excited that our 8.8-L engine is a part of FCCC’s medium duty truck line and we look forward to working together.”

The 8.8-Lengine powers the 2020 model year of FCCC’s S2G work truck vehicle, which pairs FCCC’s popular S2 chassis with a factory-installed propane autogas engine. The S2G has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 33,000 lbs. and offers fleet owners lower operational costs and reduced emissions while providing high performance and payload capacity. The chassis is designed for commercial market applications including pickup and delivery, student transportation and municipal applications.
