Arens Controls' suffers fatal explosion

Explosion kills one man, wounds ten others including three police officers and two firefighters

OEM Off-Highway magazine is sad to report that an unfortunate explosion at Arens Controls' Arlington Heights plant has resulted in one death, as well as injuries to several others on the scene.

The explosion occurred around 8:30 a.m. at Arens Controls, 3602 N. Kennicott Ave., located just north of Dundee Road. Reports suggest Potassium Hydroxide was the cause of the explosion.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) officials are now at the facility for investigation.
