The Autonomous initiative, launched in 2019 by TrustMotion (formerly TTTech Auto), has established a new independent organization called The Autonomous – Global Platform for Safe Autonomous Systems and Robotics. Founded by NXP, TrustMotion, Infineon, Qualcomm Incorporated, and TTTECH, the association aims to create an open, neutral platform for collaboration among industry leaders, researchers, academic institutions, and policymakers. Its mission is to advance safe, secure, and robust autonomous systems across industries by building trust in increasingly AI-driven technologies.

As autonomous technologies move from pilot projects to widespread deployment, the association seeks to address shared challenges by promoting collaboration on foundational technologies, system architectures, standards, and best practices. Through working groups, expert forums, publications, and events, members will work together to establish the safety, security, reliability, and system integrity necessary for trusted autonomy. The founding members bring complementary expertise in semiconductors, software platforms, system architecture, and industrial technology to help guide the association’s strategic direction and accelerate innovation.

The association expands the original initiative beyond the automotive sector to include robotics, industrial automation, smart machines, healthcare technology, agricultural technology, and advanced air mobility. By bringing diverse industries together, it aims to establish the trusted technological foundations needed to scale autonomous systems and unlock the potential of physical AI. The association welcomes companies, research organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to participate in its activities and help shape the future of trusted autonomous technologies.
