Volvo Construction Equipment’s history film, The Master Builder, has been shortlisted in the European Excellence Awards. The company’s epic film competed against 1,300 entries from across Europe and impressed a panel of esteemed communications specialists in the Corporate Film and Video category.
The Master Builder tells the history of Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) – from 1832 to the present – in a vibrant and unique manner, using Hollywood actor Philip Barantini as a lively narrator to bring the company’s history to life. Earlier this year, the film was recognized for its original approach by the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards – where it won a highly respected silver dolphin trophy. The video was produced with the help of creative agency Poetry in Motion and freelance director Timo Pincket.
Klas Magnusson, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Volvo CE, says: “We are very pleased to be shortlisted for yet another award for our new history film. We created The Master Builder to highlight Volvo’s long history, global reach and commitment to the future in a dynamic way that would stand out in today’s digital media environment. It is great to receive such recognition for our company’s innovation.”
The Master Builder has already attracted more than 24,000 views on the company’s global YouTube site, as well as numerous hits on other websites and Volvo’s social media channels.
“The reaction we have received to The Master Builder has been phenomenal,” says Clare Gittins, Global Director of External Communications for Volvo CE, “but then, The Master Builder is not your average corporate history film and that is what makes it so appealing. As a company, we are doing what we have always done – being pioneers in the industry.”
The award ceremony will take place on December 8, at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
